Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation is sharing an update from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo regarding current spring flood conditions and mitigation efforts across the region.
As temperatures continue to rise, water levels along the Clearwater River are being closely monitored and are currently above typical seasonal levels. While there are no impacts to road access at this time, some low-lying areas may experience localized overland flooding as conditions continue to change.
Temporary closures have been implemented in select low-lying and river-adjacent areas. Community members are encouraged to exercise caution when travelling near these locations and to follow all posted safety guidance.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo continues to monitor river conditions and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared by monitoring official updates and accessing available safety resources.
